Post describing and explaining the how game idea 2 has developed.
Initial Idea
– TEAM PVP
- Multiplayer game with 2 separate teams of 2.
- The teams are battling against each other.
- There are coloured objects in the world, that relate to the health of each player.
- Each team is trying to suck out the colour from their rivals health objects to defeat them
- Though each team still has to defend their health blocks
- Players can only heal/ put health back into their team mates colour and not their own – Making them in control of the life of death of their character.
Developed Idea
– TEAM PVP
- Multiplayer game with 2 separate teams of 2.

- Players can only heal/ put health back into their team mates colour and not their own – Making them in control of the life of death of their character.
- There is only a limited amount of health in the world and players need to get their health objects up to 100%
- All health objects start with 50% health
- So one team must take all the health from the other team
- An enemy will appear in the world periodically and will try to take health out of the environment
- Once the enemy appears the two teams will need to work together to defend against it ensuring health isn’t taken, until the enemy disappears after a set amount of time.
- If a team dies during the enemy phase then all that team will win, because the other team didn’t help keep the players alive and so didn’t cooperate and cooperative is key.
What has changed?
- Enemy – I decided to add the enemy into the game, because I felt it was an unusual way of approaching cooperation by forcing enemies to collaborate, so there is this mix of alliances, with players constantly flipping from team mates to rivals. I believe this would make for an interesting form of strategy to the game, as players would have to plan when to steal health. As they couldn’t steal lots of health before the enemy was about to come, as they would need to quickly heal the team back up again so they don’t die. I’m curious as to how people would play this game, as I haven’t seen anything similar to compare the play style to.
Inspired by many movies where the narrative revolves around rivals becoming allies to defend against a joint enemy.
- Limited amount of health in the environment – I decided to add the limited health into the game, as within my cooperative play research, one of the design principles was to have limited resources to ensure players rely on each other while playing to add greater cooperation to the game. So I limited the health in order to achieve this.
